„Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one”
Wyobraź sobie wszystkich ludzi
( jak na magistra filozofii przystało) poruszające sferę intelektualną.
Some time ago I decided that next to the posts related strictly to fashion, beauty, art, interesting events and travels, from time to time (like a master’s philosopher) I will publish here posts touching the intellectual zone.
In November, I had the pleasure to participate in Poznań at a publishing meeting, which was hosted by a traveler and journalist Tomasz Michniewicz. This meeting was connected with the promotion of his latest book „Chrobot”. I mention about this because reading this documentary book really gave me food for thought. It is the story of seven people from different countries and continents – educated and raised up in different way. They all are in similar age and there is so many differences between them. But the common thing to them all is that they all are human beings. The Dalai Lama once said so beautifully about looking for similarities in another person, because they make that we don’t feel lonely in this world. It is important to see HUMAN and, if it is possible, and the situation requires it – help them.
Imagine the situation: -10oC and you are lying in a warm bed surrounded by the four walls. Outside the window it is snowing and raining at the same time, but you are safe, dry. Think about how lucky you are, you have your place, your home or your apartment. However, there are so many people in completely different situation that I have described above. These are people who for various reasons (and we do not judge them) lost their homes and, therefore, landed on the street. The problem of homelessness grows for many reasons. Among the European countries, Finland is this one who can handle with them in the best way. Thanks to the „Housing first” project allocates the people struggling with the problem housing in the flats and gives them a supervision of a social guardian who helps them return to society. As a result, the number of homeless people in this country is decreasing every year.
Susza, brak wody pitnej
Access to drinking water for most of us is something obvious. However, at the same time, 1/8 of the globe’s inhabitants suffer from permanent access to drinking water. There are a lot of droughts victims and the most vulnerable are young children, babies and newborns who die from diseases caused by the lack of clean drinking water. Its resources are decreasing year by year, so please think about how you can contribute to its saving. The above mentioned problem can affect everyone, so try to do everything to avoid wasting water even by buying a water-saving washing machine or limiting water-intensive products.
